Welcome to the memorial page for

Elijah John ("Bank") Winston

June 15, 1995 ~ September 20, 2017 (age 22)

Elijah John Winston, also known as “Bank” and “Fat Boy” was granted his angel wings on September 20, 2017 at 6:35 a.m. at St. Francis Hospital, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Elijah was born on June 15, 1995 in Gretna, Louisiana at Meadowcrest Hospital.  He was baptized at Gateway Missionary Baptist Church in  Marrero, Louisiana, pastored by (the late) Rev. Benjamin Struggs. He  attended Bridge City Elementary School in Bridge City, Louisiana, and after Hurricane Katrina, he and his mother, Lil A. Paul, moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, where he played basketball and football throughout his high school years.

Elijah’s life would seem too short to many, but to those who were touched by him, they understood that the quality of his existence far exceeded the quantity of time in which he lived. His gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around him. Even though he was a man of few words and had a very old soul, Elijah was sensitive, caring, loving, and thoughtful. He loved life!  His hobbies included  playing sports and video games and listening to music, especially Christian music.  His favorite song was Take Me to the King.  He also enjoyed listening to R&B and rap music.

Elijah and his mother had an unbreakable bond that will last forever through precious, loving memories.  His mother, Lil, recounts, “Through his life, we were able to create wonderful memories together, and it has been a privilege to be his mother.”  With Elijah’s passing, we are reminded that his life is one to be cherished and remembered. His family and friends will miss him dearly, especially his captivating smile and solemn spirit.  Elijah will forever remain in our hearts.

Elijah leaves to cherish his memories: His loving mother, Lil A. Paul (Darris Taylor), father, Eric L. Winston, Sr. (Michelle Rodriguez), older brother Eric L. Winston Jr., his best friend and older brother, Elex Winston (Shaneia Turner), one sister, Erica Winston, and girlfriend, Rachel         Anderson.  He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.  He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Orelia D. Struggs and Clarence Paul, and paternal grandparents, Roland and Ernestine Winston.
